In brief

What works, what to weigh

+

Strengths

3 reasons to book
  • Rooftop breakfast with a view — Guests consistently praise the breakfast, especially when served on the roof terrace, which adds a memorable start to the day.
  • Central Old Quarter location — A short walk to Hanoi Night Market (550 m) and many of the city’s attractions, with Train Street about 10–15 minutes on foot.
  • Helpful, friendly staff — The team at reception repeatedly stands out for being accommodating, from quick check-in with a welcome drink to arranging tours and airport shuttles.

Worth weighing

4 to weigh
  • Facilities are limited — Guest ratings for facilities are low, and reviews note that amenities are packed into a small space, which may not suit those expecting a full-service hotel.
  • Rooms are basic — While clean, rooms are described as basic, with some lacking obvious mirrors (one guest found one inside the closet door).
  • Old Quarter crowds — The surrounding streets are narrow and often congested with scooters and street food stalls, making walking a bit of an obstacle course, though part of the area’s charm.
  • Mixed experiences with add-ons — While staff are helpful, one guest had disappointing food from a recommended restaurant and a concerning massage experience arranged nearby.

“Central and surprisingly quiet. All the sights are within easy walking distance. Everything was clean, staff were friendly, and they gave us a welcome drink plus a map with sightseeing tips. They also offered guided tours to Ha Long Bay. We booked again for our second stay in Hanoi.”

“A great stay, my second visit of five nights.”

“The Old Quarter has most things within walking distance, about 10 minutes to the lake. It’s crowded with narrow streets, and you often have to walk on the road because scooters and food stalls fill the sidewalks, but that’s part of the charm. The room was good, though there seemed to be no mirrors – we only found one inside the closet door as we were leaving. Staff were very friendly and helpful, but my experiences with their recommendations weren’t great: the food I ordered from one of their restaurants was poor, and a massage arranged on the same street left me worried about my pockets. I didn’t book tours through them as I’d prebooked elsewhere.”
